授業の目的?内容 ／Course Objectives	This one-semester course is compulsory for second-year students. Overall Objectives 1. To increase academic vocabulary and to further the development of　vocabulary/vocabulary building skills in general 2. To automatize more accurate grammatical knowledge 3. To develop comprehension skills for reading materials across different genres and topics. 4. To develop effective reading skills & deciphering academic texts (intensive reading,　extensive　reading, using visual/lexical & grammatical cues in academic texts). 5. To continue to develop reading strategies to read authentic texts/outside readers. 6. To recognize how authors use in-text citations, direct quotations and referencing.
授業の形式?方法と履修上の注意 ／Teaching method and Attention the course	This course is taught in English. Classes will be conducted using the textbook listed below. This semester, Porta II and University Web-Mail System will be used as the essential tools of communication. In addition, classes will be conducted using Zoom. Students are expected to prepare an appropriate Internet environment to use these tools constantly. In terms of the use of Zoom, further details will be provided by the instructor before the first class through Porta II.
事前?事後学修の内容 ／Before After Study	Students are expected to prepare for each class by reviewing lecture and class discussion notes. Each week, new instructions will be given by the instructor. Students are expected to follow the instructions carefully, and engage in relevant activities and exercises. Further details will be provided by the instructor in the first class.
