授業の目的?内容 ／Course Objectives	Citizen Comedyを読む Shakespeareの時代にあらわれたイギリス演劇の新しいジャンルがcitizen comedy（市民喜劇）である。ロンドンを舞台とし、勃興してきた社会階級である市民の生態を風刺的に描くという特徴を持つ。 この演習では下記の作品を読みながらcitizen comedyのジャンルとしての特性や個々の作家の手法について理解を深めるとともに、citizen comedyと呼ばれる作品群が発生した歴史的文脈を社会?経済学的視点からとらえることを目的とする。 Thomas Dekker, The Shoemaker’s Holiday Ben Jonson, Every Man in his Humour Thomas Middleton, A Chaste Maid in Cheapside 上記作品についてはいずれも授業開始前にNew Mermaids版で入手しておくこと。
授業の形式?方法と履修上の注意 ／Teaching method and Attention the course	作品の精細な読みを中心に授業は進める。
事前?事後学修の内容 ／Before After Study	事前にはテクストの指定された箇所を精読し、議論のポイントとなる台詞を抽出しておくこと。事後には指定された参考文献の中の議論と、授業で扱った戯曲を関連付けたレポートを作成すること。
