This course will continue in a similar fashion to the Spring semester, with the same main course goals:

• To familiarize students with the features and style of argumentative essay writing in English.
• To practice timed essay writing skills needed for tests such as TOEFL and IELTS.
• To learn to edit and revise your own writing, and give constructive feedback to your classmates.
• To become more familiar with and confident using academic vocabulary.

As well as the following additional goals:

• To familiarize students with other essay types: compare & contrast ; problem & solution.
• To support your writing with research and learn to use citations and references in the APA style.

This course focuses on improving students’ "vocabulary," "grammar" and "writing" skills, as stated in DP 2. Overall objectives are for students to acquire the basics of "written productive skills," as stated in the CP.
授業の形式?方法と履修上の注意
/Teaching method and Attention the course
I believe that the best way for students to improve their writing is to practice writing a lot. Therefore we will spend a lot of time writing in class. Students will also do a lot of pair and group discussions to develop ideas and get feedback on their written work.

Students will receive feedback on essay first drafts, to help them write a final draft.
